Digicel’s Grenada Recognises Chris Ollivierre DIGI-STAR 2011

“Over the five years I have worked I can feel the impact I have had on the Network and am proud”

Tuesday 20th December 2011- St. George: Digicel made a big, bold promise in 2003 when they launched. It was to offer customers crystal clear calling, fewer dropped calls, better coverage and the best value ever.

Eight years later that promise has grown into the proud claim of being Grenada’s “Bigger, Better Network.” This is possible because of the gatekeepers behind the delivery of the promise on the engineering side work diligently so that you can forget all the technicalities of the network and get on with your calling, sending that email or connecting via Facebook seamlessly.

One of those persons is Chris Ollivierre who has had this responsibility for the last 5 years. Chris is Transmission and RF Engineer and is consumed with providing customers with the best quality. Chris said his interest in this field was piqued by older brothers who also work in the field. Now he feels his choice of career is vindicated.

“I work in a field so dynamic and I can both feel and see the impact my work is having and that makes me feel very good,” Chris said. These achievements and have earned him the Grenada DIGI-STAR award for 2011. DIGI-STAR is the award for the most outstanding employee of Digicel Grenada.

One of the reasons for his recognition is the outstanding results of the most recent drive test conducted. A drive test is where providers drive around with equipment which records the state of the network in the different areas across the country. These equipment automatically take their readings once setup without operators intervention. Readings such as Signal strength, dropped calls, speech quality, coverage etc. are recorded.

In the most recent side by side tests with Digicel’s competitor, the bigger, better network scored as follows. While persons on the competing network were victims of 56 dropped calls during the testing, your network, Digicel, recorded just 5. In terms of speech quality, customers on the competing network experienced bad speech quality with over one-quarter of their calls, 25.7-percent whereas those on the bigger, better Network experienced 16.63-percent. Yes, at least one quarter of the competitor’s calls had issues. When scored for indoor coverage where it really matters, the bigger, better network was superior.

Chris is an example of the work done by Digicel engineers all across the Caribbean hence giving Digicel the recognition as the Bigger, Better Network!

Also winning awards were Jenson Phillip who won the Digicel Shooting Star Award and Carla Briggs who was awarded the Digicel Shining Star award.
